    How a paid place looks

Type your business name and choose what you do, and the card builds itself. Every paid place carries its label where readers can see it, beside the listings and never among them.

A specimen, not a real listing: the label sits on the card itself.
    • Every paid place is labeled. A sponsor is called a sponsor, and an advertisement is marked “Paid partner”, on the page and on Facebook.
    • Money never changes a listing. Paying does not add a place, move it up, or change what we say about it.
    • Never inside the evidence. No sponsor’s or advertiser’s name is placed inside a story’s evidence, a case or a finding.
    • Only what we would visit ourselves. Local businesses, museums, societies and events in the valley, and we can say no.

    How a promotion works

    1. Write to us.Your business or group, what you have in mind, and when. Email, Messenger or the contact page.
    2. Get a plain answer. What can be done, what it will take and when, and whether a placement is a good fit, before you commit to anything.
    3. We make it.The research, the story, the pictures or the design, every fact sourced.
    4. It goes up, marked.Labeled as sponsored or as a paid partner, for the time agreed, on the page and on Facebook.

    Questions businesses ask

Does paying change what you write?

No. Money never changes a listing, a case or a finding, and no sponsor’s or advertiser’s name is placed inside a story’s evidence. Nobody who pays sees a story before readers do. If a sponsor ever asked for any of that, the money would go back.

    Who can take part?

Local businesses, museums, societies, events and families in the St. Joseph River valley. We take advertising only from places we would visit ourselves, and we can say no.

What is the difference between sponsoring and advertising?

Sponsors pay for the research that keeps the hunt free, and are thanked by name. Advertisers buy a clearly labeled place in front of readers. Both, side by side.

    Is a sponsorship tax-deductible?

No. Sponsorship is income to Project Scroll, an independent research desk, and is not a tax-deductible gift.
