    The Project Scroll app

Be one of the first: test the app

Project Scroll is becoming an Android app, Project Scroll: South Bend on Google Play: every story, the valley map, the calendar of festivals and events, the museums and the treasure hunt, one tap from your home screen.

Before Google lists a new app for everyone, real people have to try it for two weeks. We’re looking for 15 to 20 testers. It’s free, and you see the app before anyone else.

Send your Gmail address Message on Facebook

A weathered WANTED poster on barn boards: 15 brave testers for the Project Scroll app, reward a first look, with a phone hanging beside it and a river valley in autumn beyond

    What you need

    • A Gmail address

The one signed in to the Play Store on your phone or tablet.

    • An Android phone or tablet

Any recent Android device. An iPhone can’t join this test.

    • Two weeks

Keep the app installed for 14 days and open it now and then.

    How to join

    1. Send us your Gmail address. By email to research@projectscroll.com or a message on Facebook. Please don’t post it in a public comment.
    2. We add you to the testers’ list. We write back when you’re on it, usually within a day.
    3. Open the join link on your phone. play.google.com/apps/testing/com.projectscroll.app, tap Become a tester, then install the app from Google Play. The link works once your address is on the list.
    4. Use it, and tell us what you find. Read a story, open the map, try the calendar. If anything looks wrong, or there’s something you love, write to us.

The 14 days start once at least 12 testers have joined. After that, the app goes on Google Play for everyone.

    Questions

I have an iPhone. Can I help?

Not with this test, which is for Android only. An Apple version may come later. In the meantime the whole site works on any phone, right here at projectscroll.com.

What happens to my Gmail address?

We use it only to add you to the testers’ list on Google Play. It isn’t shared, and it isn’t added to any mailing list. See our privacy page.

Does the app cost anything, or show ads?

No. The app is free, with no purchases and no ads. It opens the same Project Scroll site you can read in a browser, full-screen and one tap away.

Will the app stay up to date?

Yes. Every story, event and map change on the site shows in the app at the same moment, with nothing to update.
