    Kalamazoo County, Michigan

Kalamazoo County sits at the north edge of the valley, on the Kalamazoo River. It was organized in 1830, and the village of Bronson, renamed Kalamazoo, became its county seat in 1831. The county takes its name from the river.

About 261,700 people live here today (261,670 at the 2020 census), in the city of Kalamazoo, Portage and their neighbors, fifteen townships and the farm villages of the old prairies. Pick a place to begin.
